Michael Newman, MD, FACP, CPE attended medical school at New York University School of Medicine and subsequently completed his internship and residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Mike completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. After board-certification in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. Newman has been practicing gastroenterology for more than 23 years and has also served in various medical leadership positions over the past 15 years. Dr. Newman has been with Hallmark Health Medical Associates for the past four years. Initially recruited as the medical director of gastroenterology services for HHMA, he subsequently took an added responsibility as Hallmark Health System medical director of gastroenterology. Dr. Newman is Hallmark Health System Associate CMO and, most recently, was asked to fill the role of HHMA Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Newman serves on various System and HHMA committees, each of which focuses on development and growth, physician recruitment and retention, patient engagement and satisfaction and quality of care. Dr. Newman is also a member of the Hallmark Health Medical Associates Board of Directors. Dr. Newman recently completed his Certified Physician Executive Program through the American Association for Physician Leadership and is working toward completing his MBA.

David M. Miller, MD, MA, attended medical school at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, also in St. Louis. David is board-certified in Internal Medicine. Immediately following residency, Dr. Miller was a hospitalist for two years. He has been a practicing primary care physician (PCP) since relocating to the Boston area in 2000, initially at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates (in Peabody) and, most recently, in the Bulfinch Medical Group at Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition to patient care, Dr. Miller served as a continuity clinic preceptor for internal medicine residents at MGH. He also served on various committees within his practice. Dr. Miller has a particular interest in quality and safety issues. He resides in Newton with his fiancée Paula and his twin sons.
Executive Director of Operations
Melinda Burri, RPh, MBA, has joined HHMA as executive director of operations. Melinda comes to us from Cambridge Health Alliance, where she managed the clinical operations, budget, financial performance, patient experience and quality for the patient-centered medical homes. In her role at HHMA, Melinda is responsible for the planning, organization and direction of operations for the HHMA physician practices. Melinda holds an MBA and bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island.
Director of Finance
Melissa Garrett Kingston has been with Hallmark Health Medical Associates since 2007. Prior to joining HHMA, she held financial analyst and controller positions with Massachusetts Eye and Ear Associates and Partners Healthcare System. Melissa earned her MBA from Suffolk University and her Bachelor of Science degree in finance and marketing from Boston College.
Director of Clinical Integration and Call Center
Lori Barrett, RN, MBA, has transitioned from her role as system risk manager to director of clinical integration and patient experience. In her role at HHMA, Lori is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the delivery of health care provided by clinical nursing and medical assistant staff, and overseeing the implementation of technological innovations to improve the delivery of health care.
Regional Practice Administrator
Sam Tarabelsi has been with Hallmark Health for over 40 years. Sam led the HHMA effort to implement the Electronic Medical Record across all practices and sites. He has also led the effort to startup over twenty physician offices in the past several years. Sam is currently leading HHMA’s effort to adopt Virginia Mason techniques, and he is leading HHMA’s efforts to achieved Medical Home certification. Sam earned his Bachelors of Pharmacy and Allied Health degree, with a major in Medical Technology, from Northeastern University and his Masters in Business Management from Lesley University.
Regional Practice Administrator
Lauren Smith joined Hallmark Health Medical Associates in October 2016. Prior to joining HHMA, she held numerous operations and management positions at Albany Medical Center, in Albany, NY. Lauren earned her MBA from The Sage Graduate College and her Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Siena College. She brings a particular interest in staff development and operational efficiency to HHMA.
